What I find a bit ridiculous is wanting to make these changes in a very short period of time, it is not possible to do it from one years to the next” says Rolland. Then highlight how organic and biodinamic wine has a disproportionate effect on marketing compared to actual results, because it still represent a small percentage of overall production”. Skeptical of new resistant varietis (I just want to see traditionalvines such as Cabernet, Sauvignon, Merlot or Cabernet Franc replaced with something else), instead he has enormous confidence in the winemakers of tomorrow “very motivateed young with a great wealth of knowledge”. |

In time when everything changes, also the system of the “Anteprime di Toscana”, the week that, usually in February, highlighted the most famous and emerging territories of the Region, looks ahead to a profound overhaul. That starts of the Consorzio del Brunello di Montalcino that, in the Nineties, invented the “Previews”, and now moves “Benvenuto Brunello” in the autumn, and no more in February. The edition n. 30 of “Benvenuto Brunello” will be on stage from 19 to 28 November 2021, in Montalcino. “We had expressed the need to make the debut event of the vintages more incisive for the market, especially in international one” explain the president of the Consorzio del Brunello di Montalcino, Fabrizio Bindocci, that adds: “We reiterate our willingness to dialogue and to collaborate to identify other paths for the enhancement of wine made in Tuscany”. Meanwhile the other Consortia involved in the “Week of Previews”, from Chianti Classico to Nobile di Montepulciano, from Chianti to Vernaccia di San Gimignano, seem to be oriented towards maintaining their format. While the Consorzio di Bolgheri e Bolgheri Sassicaia, that has always followed another path, will be on stage on September. And the Tuscany Region (rumors) think about a common event, different from the “Previews”, in Florence. |

It appears that Italian wine exports are beginning to grow very well. WineNews’ analysis of the Italian statistics agency, ISTAT data on Italian wine exports in the first quarter of 2021, which was over 2 billion euros, up 4.2% compared to 2020, is comforting on the whole (a clear countertrend compared to -3.9% in the first 3 months). The positive trend of Made in Italy food continues and seems to be unstoppable. The sector has reported a new historical record in exports, soaring to +8.9% in 2021.
